Durham Distillery Cold Distilled Cucumber Vodka

Was able to “drop in” when the tasting room was not officially open, and was gladly welcomed at the front door and was able to purchase the Cucumber Vodka. Love the Durham Distillery!

Having been blown away by Conniption Navy Strength Gin (see my review of that sublime spirit), I didn't think twice about buying a bottle of cucumber vodka from the same distillery. And I was NOT disappointed!
Durham Distillery's cucumber vodka is crisp, clean, and has just the right amount of cucumber flavor. It's obvious from the first sip that the vodka base is of high quality, a necessary prerequisite for any good flavored vodka. And the cucumber flavor is authentic, not artificial or over-extracted.
I've tried this vodka in a martini, which did not disappoint, as well as "The West End" cocktail whose recipe is listed on the website (even my wife, not usually a fan of strong drinks, loved it). But it's also smooth and balanced enough to drink neat.
Perhaps my favorite way to enjoy Durham's cucumber vodka is on the rocks, with a nice cigar. Unlike bourbon or other brown spirits, this cucumber vodka doesn't compete with the cigar for which one has the dominant flavor. Instead, it's a cool, refreshing break between puffs of intensely flavored smoke.
If you enjoy a good cigar, or just a high-quality flavored vodka, do yourself a favor and grab a bottle of this spirit the next time you visit the ABC store--I promise you won't be disappointed!

I first tried Durham Distillery’s Cucumber Vodka on a tour of the location and instantly fell in love. This has become a staple vodka in my house that must be on hand at all times. You can drink it on its own or in a cocktail. I personally enjoy it with soda water and bitters. I think the reason I enjoy this vodka so much is that you can really taste that it is flavored with real cucumbers and not any artificial flavors.

This vodka is amazing! It is perfect over ice with a splash of seltzer. Perfect summer drink!

I first tasted this vodka on a tour of the Distillery. Then ordered it as a before dinner cocktail on the rocks with a twist at Piedmont. This is a vodka that’s great on its own as a light, refreshing cocktail. It also mixes well with tonic and lemon.

This vodka is amazing. Like one of the other reviewers I enjoy making vodka gimlets with it. One of my favorite warm weather cocktails. It is also delicious with just a soda water mixer

1-2 oz Cucumber Vodka
.5 oz simple syrup
1/2 lime
Shake with ice
So simple.
So. Freaking. Good.
A few dashes of Bitterman's Hopped Grapefruit Bitters is an awesome variant.
Usually I'll add the bitters after a sip or two without just to get the best of both worlds.
Then I'll do it all over to use the rest of the lime.

This is a very nicely done flavored vodka. It was great sipping on its own or mixed with your choice of club soda etc. I drank it by the pool and it was very refreshing.
